Chrome Horse® 5 Speed Transmissions have special design changes which make our transmission the strongest on the market. All transmissions are assembled by professional transmission builders and are carefully and thoroughly bench tested after assembly to insure quality and workmanship.

Special features include:

CHROME HORSE® transmission case (patent pending) cast in CNC machined permanent molds from A356 aluminum and hardened to T6 specification, then fully machined on state-of-the-art Mazak FH Horizontal Machining Center.
CHROME HORSE® polished billet trap door machined from 6061-T651 aluminum. Close ratio Andrews or Jims Machining gears and shafts which feature high nickel alloy gears for maximum strength and lead in ramps for quicker, more positive shifting.
Available in both cast finish or polished finish case. These transmissions are designed to be the strongest on the market with extra case thickness and full support gussets where needed.

The above transmissions will fit Softail® model frames from 1990 thru 1995. Both transmissions can be used for any year 5 speed application, if used with a late starter motor, inner and outer primaries, clutch, etc.

Perfect for those building new bikes or just replacing that old worn out transmission. Just add oil. The 2.44:1 close ratio first gear with 1.35:1 close ratio third is ideal for FX and lighter custom bikes. The 2.60:1 close ratio first with 1.35:1 close ratio third is ideal for FL or heavier touring bikes. The third gear sets are also the loose roller style which are preferred by many builders. Built with Chrome Horse® heavy duty transmission cases made from "356" Aluminum alloy and are heat treated to "T-6." Other features include a chrome plated ratchet top assembly and kicker cover. Both transmissions have 1:1 speedometer drive gears. All transmissions are carefully and thoroughly bench tested after assembly to insure quality and workmanship. These two transmissions will fit most 4 speed frames from 1970 thru early 1984.

Excellent quality at an excellent price. The Chrome Horse® U.S.A. made
trap door is CNC machined from 6061-T651 aluminum which allows for
exact tolerances & superior strength. The mounting holes are countersunk
to provide a clean look. Available with machine or highly polished finish.
